One thing I have learned about a relationship with God is that it is a relationship in every sense of the word.
God is God Almighty, and nobody can be compared to Him, however, we need to see our relationship with Him as with a father or even more intimately. In line with this, we must communicate intimately with God.
The use of prayers is not only to ask or to thank God, but most importantly, to keep a connection with Him. However, connecting with God is more important than asking or thanking Him. He loves it when we yearn to communicate with Him, just because we need His blessing.
How then are we able to start our day and end it without connecting to God, except for the days we need to ask Him for something or remind Him of what we already asked?
LET HIM HEAR YOUR VOICE as you start and end your day, and even amid all the busyness of your day, still make time to let Him hear your voice.
About the relationship with your husband or wife, assuming you are apart from each other, would you go to bed without hearing each other’s voice? If you do this for a day or two, what impact would that have on your relationship? There, lies your answer!
Let God hear your voice every day! He waits for you every morning and before you retire, to share with Him your joys, expectations, pains, wins and failures of the day. He already knows, but He still wants to hear the voice of His beloved child.
Since I learnt this, no matter how busy, tired or exhausted I am, I must let God hear my voice when I wake up and before I sleep. It is like I am saying “Father, I am reporting to say that I am here…I survived the day and I am back home! “ It is like hearing God call my name, Chinenyenwa, I am answering“present, ABBA!”
You should start doing it too. And I don’t mean asking for favours nonstop, I just mean speaking to him and letting him hear your voice.
I do this most times by singing and simply telling Him how my day went, what I struggled with and what I am grateful for. This is called being intentional about your relationship with God.
Some of you are not able to sleep without speaking to mere friends, or maybe your boyfriend or girlfriend, etc., who may be here today and gone tomorrow, calling another by the same sweet names they called you today. How then, are you able to go for days without speaking with He that is consistently there and cares about you genuinely and deeply?
Let your father hear your voice, he wants to, he loves to and he waits.
Shalom!
