Come, Let Us Be Our Own Judges

Ever heard the phrase “the compromised Christian ?”

According to Oxford dictionary, to be compromised is to “expediently accept standards that are lower than is desirable”

Are we compromised Christians? Do we understand what is expected of a follower of Christ? Come then, let us be our own judges.

Who is a compromised Christian?

  1. A compromised Christian ‘acts’ like he loves Christ but it is only an act because he does not love him enough to forsake sin for his sake. He has one leg in Christ and the other leg in the world. He might love God, yea, but he equally loves the world as much and tries to find a way to satisfy both! How do you do that?
  2. A compromised Christian is the one that the Book of Revelation 3:15-16 talks about:  “Because they’re neither hot nor cold, I would spit them out of my mouth”(Revelation 3:15-16).
  3. A compromised Christian does not trust the Lord enough to take care of his problems and so goes to ungodly places, to dark places, seeking solutions to their problems. Again I ask, where are you? In or out?
  4. A compromised Christian proclaims love for God but can’t stand his neighbours ; his heart is bitter towards his neighbours and he is hates constantly plotting ways to hurt them. How do you love God yet can’t treat the one made in his image right?
  5. For the fear of being rejected or disowned by his peers, a compromised Christian will rather not talk about Christ in their midst, to him, it is the priests’ to preach and talk about Christ. If you don’t talk about Christ , you are indirectly denying him and remember what Christ said in Matthew 10:33, “But whoever denies me before others, I will also deny him before my Father in heaven”

It is a terrible thing to be a compromised Christian because it means that you belong nowhere.

The sad truth is that a very high percentage of Christians are compromised. They identify as Christians but their lives say otherwise. They are found in the churches and Christian gatherings every other day, dancing their hearts out, praising and praying, but they are equally found in ungodly places, doing things that contradict their Christian beliefs.

Do not be a compromised Christian…do not be neither hot nor cold, do not let the Lord spit you out of his mouth.

Let us ask for the grace to be Christians, in thought, words, and actions; living just like  the CHRIST did and taught us to.
